Hiking in Switzerland: 5 Insider Tips from the FELFEL Team

Hiking in Switzerland: 5 Insider Tips from the FELFEL Team

From Ticino to the Engadin: we share our favourite hiking routes across Switzerland – including the perfect snacks from the FELFEL fridge.

ELMER Citro Quellenweg

elm, Glarus

From the playground on the edge of Elm, I set off on a relaxed round trail through green meadows, with a panoramic view over the Sernftal. Along the way, five info boards tell me the story of the Swiss cult drink ELMER Citro. In my backpack I have my favourite hiking snacks from the FELFEL fridge: Dar-Vida with rosemary and sea salt and a handful of nuts from Nobs. Just before the end, the real highlight awaits: the ELMER Citro fountain. Filled with ice-cold, free Elmer Citro bottles, it's the absolute highlight of this hike. And I can warmly recommend a relaxed picnic at the Quellenhüttli halfway around the trail.

Hikers on their way to the Segantini Hut, with a view of Lake Engadin and the mountain landscape

Muottas Muragl – Segantini Hut

Engadin, Graubünden

From Muottas Muragl, the hike leads through the beautiful Engadin mountain landscape to the lovely Segantini Hut, with a spectacular view over the Engadin lakes and the unique Bernina range. My favourite FELFEL snacks that can't be missing from my backpack are an apple Schorle and the Raspberry Brownie Energy Bites – the perfect fuel along the way. Since it can get quite chilly up there (even in winter), a bowl of traditional barley soup, prepared by the hosts who spend the entire season at the hut, makes for the perfect lunch with a view. The day ends in Pontresina with a gelato from Gelateria di Berna. The perfect refreshing reward after a day in the mountains.

 The mountain village of Mergoscia

Corippo, Ticino

My favourite hike is in the beautiful canton of Ticino. From the charming village of Mergoscia, I hike along scenic trails and through traditional stone villages to Corippo, the smallest village in Switzerland. My favourite hiking snacks can't be missing, of course – crunchy veggies and a boiled egg with Aromat. For lunch, I stop at Albergo Diffuso Corippo, the restaurant of our supplier di Lella from Bellinzona, and savour the flavours of the region, best enjoyed with a glass of crisp local Ticino rosé. I end the day in the stunning Verzasca Valley, cooling off in the crystal-clear river after the hike.

A narrow gorge with rushing turquoise-blue water in the Taubenloch Gorge near Biel

Taubenloch Gorge

Biel, Bern

A little gorge adventure and a family favourite of ours: from Bözingen near Biel, we walk just under three kilometres through the dramatic Taubenlochschlucht, with rushing water, wooden bridges and rocky tunnels. A small wildlife park along the way puts a sparkle in my kids' eyes. My son Anton loves the chocolate-covered dried mangoes from the FELFEL fridge – they can never be missing from his backpack! For lunch we stop at Ecluse in Biel, where everything on the plate comes from within 50 kilometres. A philosophy that fits FELFEL perfectly. We end the day with a refreshing jump into Lake Biel.

Dent de Jaman

Montreux, Vaud

My favourite hike takes me up to the Dent de Jaman in the Romandie region. The trail is relatively short but quite intense – which makes it both accessible and truly rewarding. At the top, an incredible view awaits, overlooking Lake Geneva and a large part of the canton of Vaud. A FELFEL Oats Bar can't be missing from my backpack. The perfect energy boost along the way.
