Jung von Matt (JvM) is an established creative agency that has been creating innovative marketing concepts for a variety of Swiss cult brands for over 30 years. At its headquarters in Zurich, JvM brings together a team of over 80 experts from all marketing and communications disciplines. In response to the climate crisis, Jung von Matt decided in the summer of 2022 to take on a new challenge and become more sustainable. The agency developed a comprehensive sustainability concept, which included switching to vegetarian catering.
To achieve this goal, Jung von Matt had to address the following questions:

- How can we make sustainability more fun and entertaining for our employees, while making them more aware of their impact?
THE SOLUTION
As a first step, Stefan Naef (Managing Partner at Jung von Matt LIMMAT) and Nina Bieli (Chief People & Culture Officer at Jung von Matt AG) have decided to go completely vegetarian - even at customer meetings and celebrations.
This was an important goal in order to immediately reduce CO2 emissions at the agency. With their long-time partner FELFEL, JvM was sure to tackle this challenge easily.

When the agency approached FELFEL with its sustainability roadmap and the desire for a vegetarian employee catering, the team immediately arranged everything to switch JvM’s FELFEL fridge to vegetarian only. This meant no effort for JvM’s managers and employees, as FELFEL specializes in responding quickly to customer requests and coming up with tailored solutions. Nina Bieli, Culture and People Manager, said that making the switch to a vegetarian FELFEL went very fast and was as simple as making a single phone call. There hasn’t been any additional work for JvM.
"One phone call was all it took and a month later, we made the switch to a vegetarian FELFEL. There was no additional work required from our side," says Nina Bieli.

Since implementing the vegetarian FELFEL, conversations about sustainability among employees have increased. The introduction of different dishes with meat alternatives, which are new to many, has sparked engaging discussions during lunch breaks. Jaqueline Ruefener, Creative Director at JvM remarked, "The vegetarian FELFEL has raised our awareness of our daily CO2 emissions and consumption. We often talk and hear about sustainable fun facts we have presented at the agency."
The change to a completely vegetarian agency was well-received by everyone.
Nina Bieli stated, “The FELFEL was one of many changes we want to tackle. We don’t forbid meat for anyone outside their working hours, but we want to be clear how we position ourselves. And this made sense for everyone. And since the FELFEL has so much variety - some people didn’t even notice that meat was missing!”
