The Zurich Triemli City Hospital is a state-of-the-art hospital with two locations in the city of Zurich, with a supra-regional catchment area and a nationwide reputation. The hospital currently employs 4,273 staff. The Triemli Hospital treats around 35,000 inpatients and 220,000 outpatients as well as over 80,000 emergencies every year - with state-of-the-art care, human attention and around-the-clock service.

Despite already having a traditional cafeteria for the staff, the hospital faced the challenge of providing its employees with balanced, nutritious and healthy meals during the night shift due to cost and staffing constraints. While there may be numerous 24/7 employee catering solutions on the market, the Triemli hospital had the challenge of finding one that was suitable for their large team and that met the specific needs and high standards of hospitals in terms of food quality, usage, and hygiene.

NIGHT SHIFT AT THE HOSPITAL
With so many employees and the short breaks they have, a solution was needed that was quick and easy for everyone to use. It also had to be a service that would give employees access to fresh food at any time of the day or night. The biggest plus point: the FELFEL refrigerator is also open at night, unlike the hospital canteen. Karl Suter: "The FELFEL is very easy to use. You either have a badge or hold the app up to the vending machine."

Since the city hospital's canteen already consumes a lot of resources and time, they were looking for a simple employee catering solution that met their needs while requiring minimal installation and maintenance.

THE RESULT

The Triemli has had two FELFEL refrigerators in operation for the last 2 years. The use has developed strongly with the hospital staff: Initially, it was only intended as a solution for staff during the night shift, then due to interest, the offer was extended to use for lunch. In the future, it will also be offered to patients and visitors.
